What Does Local San Diego News Say About the "Migrant Crisis?"
Spoiler alert: it differs from the testimony of a San Diego County border resident.
Today in Santee, CA, the House Judiciary Committee held a field hearing titled “The Biden-Harris Border Crisis: California Perspectives.” Organized by Congressman Jim Jordan and led by Congressman Darrell Issa, the hearing included testimonies from Southern California government officials such as Santee Mayor John Minto, Vista Mayor John Franklin, Riverside County undersheriff Don Sharp, District Attorney Michael Hestrin, and border security advocate and small business owner Cory Gautereaux.
I’ve been following Cory’s research, which includes access to an abandoned Chinese phone, and what’s now hundreds of passports and important documents left by individuals crossing illegally into the United States at the San Diego County/Mexico border. His testimony, along with my own investigative research, and reporting done by many local citizen journalists, reveals that our local media is either lazy, lacks curiosity, is clueless, or is running cover for criminal activity happening in the southwest corner of the country.
Why is this? Because what they are saying is not matching up with what we are finding.
After living through the pandemic and seeing how San Diego media covered the mess we lived through, I saw first hand the stories they refused to include, and what they blatantly lied about. Because I lived it. I was there.
Now it’s happening again. I see with my own eyes what’s going on in our communities. How they have drastically changed due to the rising cost of living, homeless villages being constructed like we have never seen before, the physical deterioration of areas where businesses have fled and buildings become vacant. But I don’t find that our local journalists are asking WHY. Shouldn’t that be a nonpartisan question?

As a very curious person who seeks to understand how a federal government can refuse to do its #1 one job—to secure the borders of our nation, I have tried to answer this question myself. The information I was led to is still being investigated, but could explain why local journalists may be told not to “get too inquisitive.”
I don’t think our media wants to become obsolete. So that leads me to believe they’re left with no other choice than to fill the role of gatekeepers of information. This information, if properly investigated, could reveal that the San Diego region plays a major role in the movement of people, and it’s not for humanitarian purposes as “they” all want you to believe.
